A newly gained obsessions

Koko-rokoko!!!  (thanks Meghan!)

This store sells 80's & 90's clothing...one of my many loves!  I even found a Pop Swatch in their jewelry case; Meghan thought I named my blogged after the Pop Swatch watches from the 90's.  I didn't...but that's another story.

I picked up a couple of shoes.  Yay!  and a fun top with a small Mary Poppins print :)  "a spoon full of sugar..."

So, check out their blog http://koko-rokoko.blogspot.com/ or stop by the shop in Chicago at Division and Ashland.

Mochi Delight

Danielle and I went to dinner at Ping Pong tonight...the best part of dinner was the Mochi sampler...besides spending time with Danielle ;)
**note the 2 samplers...not 1 but 2!  it was that good!

Pitchfork Music Fest

Pitchfork this weekend and you know what that means....
good live music, good friends, and "hipsters" who look like Urban Outfitters threw up on them...yes, yes.  Let the festivities begin!

I'm attending Friday night's show but won't make Saturday or Sunday because....I have to work a show!

It's good to be home

I just got home from being in St. Louis for several days.  I spent most of my time with Jenny...it felt good to reconnect with her and many others who I keep close to my heart..haha, I'm so cheesy.

I was really excited to visit my favorite vintage shop when in St. Louis, Avalon Trading (formerly Rag-O-Rama) and even more excited to take home a handmade stone necklace.  Apparently, the previous 2 owners split and 1 has taken on the store.  With the exception of a few cosmetic changes, the store is as its always been.  Doesn't it look like the kid sister of Wasteland in San Francisco?  Well, I think so anyway...

The pics of the little fireworks show remind me of the shirts I would "design" as a kid with squiggly paint...take a look!

4th of July

(heatherette.com)  love the kitschiness of this look

the sun finally decided to come out so i could spend time at the pool.  yes.

Happy 4th!!!

Mourning Michael

Today we mourn the fall of the King of Pop....a true artist in every sense of the word.

I've posted some pics that I really like that show off his unique and unmistakable signature looks throughout the years. I feel his fashion sense was overshadowed by the infamy that the media attention brought circling his ups and (mostly) downs of his life.

One thing is for sure...this boy had style. He will be missed.

Pimp My Ride

These bikes remind me of being back in San Diego (where I'm originally from). Even though you are more likely to see tricked out cars I still love the art and detailing that is put into these tricked out bikes.

coming up on the weekend(!)

I'm thinking of going to this fashion show at Heaven Gallery tonight.  I attended "Let them Eat Cake" last Friday with my friend Meghan.  The shows take place in the 2-room gallery filled with paintings and cool installations.  Last week the first room (the bigger of the 2) was decorated with Marie Antoinette pieces.  If you get a chance, I suggest checking out the gallery!

shoes are my boyfriend

Oh Balmain and Ferragamo, how you speak to my heart...

How beautiful is the rhinestone and feather detail on the boot?  and the laser cut detailing on the bootie...i love the juxtaposition of delicate pattern against the black leather

Sunday Funday

ok, so we didn't make it to see sharon jones BUT we did have time to walk around and witness many (too many...1 is too many) men with their shirts off at the fest.  guys, unless you are at a pool or beach, please PUHLEEZZ do not take off your shirts.  i am a girl.  trust me.  it's unattractive.
anyway, we also had our fair share of street meat and the most delicioso cherry Italian ice.  so much more flavor than the more standard flavors of strawberry and lemon.

So, this weekend is the 26th annual Chicago Blues Fest. Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings are closing out tonight's festivities. Danielle and I are making it a point to see Ms. Jones as I missed her last year at Lollapalooza.
